Current Event QTR 2 wk 8:NFL's highest-paid defensive player suspended for season

Albert Hansworth was signed to the Washiton Redskins, an Nfl football team. In the free agent list Albrt Hansworth was singed for 100,000,000 dollars, and he is a defensive tackle.  But after the 12th game of this NFl season Hansworth got cut off the team. Missing these last 4 regular season games will end up costing him around 3.5 million dollars. However he did earn 34 million dollars over the past 20 seasons with the Washington Redskins. Though he could be a destructive force when on the field, Haynesworth far too often played without emotion or effort. Because of this, he won't be missed in the team's locker room or by fans. His tenure in D.C. has been characterized by that laziness, apathy and a general sense that the $100 million man would rather be anywhere than in Washington. I think this is an excellent idea I mean its his job he should play ever game like its the superbowl. I also cant believe they would sign him a contract for 100 million dollars and just cut him after Twenty seasons with the Washington Redskins. Its Hansworth fault through for not putting forth the effert. Just like life there will be consiquences for not trying hard enough on a football field. I believe the Washington Redskins did the right thing.

Current Event Qtr 2 Week 5: Report Out on Deadly Black Hawk Crash

http://www.military.com/news/article/report-out-on-deadly-black-hawk-crash.html?wh=news
Wiesbaden, Germany -- Investigators were unable to determine the cause of the Feb. 3 Army helicopter crash near Mannheim, Germany, but revealed several miscues made by the unit and the flight crew before takeoff. The flight left Stuttgart Army Airfield and crashed during its final approach to Coleman Army Airfield into a forested area with pine and oak trees averaging more than 100 feet tall. That was there final destination of there routine flight but they were not properly authorized for this flight. The helicopter hit the trees at more than 160 miles per hour. This is a deadly crash that killed three U.S. soldiers at they impact of the crash.According to the 15-6, the crew did not receive proper authorization for the flight, flew with an expired weather brief, and loaded the aircraft with more fuel than was authorized. The report said the degree of destruction to the aircraft and its components, along with not having a flight data recorder or cockpit voice recorder on board, prevented investigators from determining the cause of the crash. I think that is is the crews fault for not following orders but it is sad that they lost there lives because of it. This is some crazy equipment and it can be very dangerous to use sometimes. So there are  precautions and procedures to use it. And it is a shame that those U.S. soldiers died but it would not have happened if they just followed orders like they were trained to do.Soldiers search the site where a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter crashed in February. Current Events QTR 2 Week 3: Armor School's 1st Bradleys Hit Benning

Fort Benning is one of the most brutal places on earth. This is where  all branches of the military are trained this includes Armor school. Three M2A2 Operation Desert Storm Bradley fighting vehicles arrived Friday at Building 5205. Now Fort Benning is training new soldiers how to use these Bradley Tank Systems. This tank is now a needed resource in combat overseas.
I personally am surprised that Fort Benning is not already using this vehicle in training. I also understand because the Bradley Tank System showed its worth in Operation Desert Storm. I don't really see the point of getting more tanks when there are already so many in operation. Also, isn't it expensive to build more weapons when the economy is so bad? I think they could spend the money better.

Current Event #2 QTR #2: Controversy over Ole Miss mascot

On Thursday the Ole Miss Rebels changed their mascot from Colonel Reb to their supposedly new and improved mascot...Rebel Black Bear. The new mascot is named after a bear based on a story by William Faulkner, an Ole Miss graduate.  The school is changing mascots in order to have one that is more politically correct. Some fans are upset about the change and would like to see the return of the old mascot, Colonel Reb, who has not been allowed to the games since 2003.
My opinion is that it is part of the history of the school. They shouldn't change it because it is part of the school spirit. I can understand if you don't care about the school, but if people go there they should have the mascot they like. Many college fans are crazy about their mascot. Why should this one be any different?

Current event QTR 2 Week 1:NBA bans its first pair of shoes because of vertical leap

This article says that the NBA or National Basketball Association banned ttheir first piar of shoes in its 64-year history. This is because they give you a advantage of vertical leap. So this was found unfair to NBA officials and they banned these 300 dollar shoes from the players of the NBA.The shoes are caled Athletic Propulsion Labs' Concept 1. No palyer will be able to wear these shoes for the up coming2010-2011 season. I think this is fine because NBA players have a numerous amount of shoes to pick from. and besides the last thing we need is  players beiing called cheaters by the opposing team after winning a game. I bet the players don't even care about the shoes and like the ones they own already.I bet some players did'nt here about the shoes until they were banned. SORRY ABOUT THE "T" AT THE BEGINNING I COULDNT FiGUR OUT  HOW TO FI IT

Title: Current event week 7 Title of article:Snipers get new and improved weapons

Elite special forces task groups that take the fight to enemy with intelligence and amazing skills are known as snipers and they are armed to the teeth.  But could their weapons be even more precise and even more deadly. Well military snipers will now see new M24 Reconfigured Sniper Weapon Systems.
According to the article, The result in the near-term fielding of 250 XM2010 weapon systems, which will be chambered for .300 Winchester Magnum cartridges. The new chambering significantly extends the weapon's maximum effective range. It's expected the Army will field the upgraded weapons to deployed Army snipers by the end of December.  I think the military force for the U.S. doesnt care what gun they are using as long as it can get the job done quick and smooth.  We need to focus on other ideas than new sniper weapons mechcanisms.  I think the army already has enough weapons to choose from anyway.

Title: Current Event Week 6 Title of article: Shin Ji-yai wins seasons first LPGA in Evian Masters

South Koreas Shin Ji-yai wins the first LPGA Evian Masters trophy of 2010. She outscored and outpaced her three top rivelries in the game by one shot!In the fourth round another player, Evian-les-Bains had the lead until Shin Ji-yai hit 5 under to take the lead. But it was her last and fifth birdie that put her in a one stroke lead over Pressel, Alexis Thompson and Choi Na-yeon.
I think that is a show of not only skill but determination on Shin Ji-yia part. Golf is a dificult game and this trophy will show her effort throughout the game.

Living Afghan War Vet to Receive Medal of Honor

Staff Sgt. Salvatore Guinta saves a fellow comrade from being kidnapped. In the heat of battle, while in Afghanistan, Staff Sgt Guinta rushes in under heavy fire from Taliban members to discover his fallen comrade was being dragged off by the enemy. He immedialtely took action and fired killing one of two Taliban members. Staff Sgt Guinta forced the other Taliban member to drop his comrade and run for cover. Then he started medical aid to his comrade Staff Sgt Brennan.

My opinion is that Staff Sgt Guinta is a very deserving hero. He risked his own life to save a buddy in need. With no thought for his own life he rushed right into live fire from the enemy. Not only was he able to get that soilder home, his actions helped to save the other members of the platoon. Even though Staff Sgt Brennan didn't live he was able to come home and be remebered by his family thanks to Staff Sgt Guinta.

Jets under investigation

As the season opener draws near for the New York Jets, they have more than football to deal with. A Hispanic female newswriter was supposedly harrassed as she did interviews at their facility. According tor reports, the players and some coaches even threw footballs at her and called her names. They also made some very dirty comments toward her being a lady. The team is being investigated for all of this.
My opinion is that in practice situations there shouldn't be women reporters allowed on the filed. I think they can cause a distraction, and it is hard enough to concentrate. They sure shouldn't be allowed in the locker room. But I will say that even though there shouldn't be women at practice, the players and especially the coaches should be professional. I think that the players that did this are thugs.

Uruguayan Armed Forces train with reservists

According to Air Force website, "Ten members of the Uruguayan armed forces visited Air Force Reserve Command's 920th Rescue Wing here Aug. 29 through Sept. 2 to get hands-on rescue orientation and training." The soldiers are being trained for search and rescue missions, because of the conflict there. They will be trained in the techniques that our own Air Force uses. The whole training started in Florida, and now the trainees have jumped from C-130's. Right now the reserve soldiers are still there training new people.
I chose this article because I have an interest in the military. Since they came to us it is nice that we helped them, and it is good deed to show our military knowledge to other places in the world. It is good for relations between our two countries. Some our soldiers will get to travel to Uruguay after this training. I am impressed they chose our military instead of anywhere else.

Arizona citizenship bill targets children

This article, written by Ruben Navarrette Jr., was written about how babies how who are born in the U.S. from illegal immigrants will have denial of their U. S. birth certificates.  Some parents are coming to the U. S. just to have the children here, so the children will be granted citizenship. Those babies are called Anchor Babies. The term Anchor Babies refers to chilren born here, with the intent to increase the chances of thier parents staying in the U.S., even if mommy and daddy are in the country illegally.  In my opinion, I think Arizona is on the right track.  If the government approves the baby then they can't just separate the parents and kid. So if they deny the birth certificates of these Ancor Babies, maybe less people would attempt this.  I really think that would be a smart move on Arizona's part. So even though its a little wierd I will have to agree with the pass of this bill.

BP1:CE: King Tut Murdered?

According to the article, after further study of King Tutankhamen's remains scientist have a theory of King Tut's death as a murder. This legendary 19 year-old teen King has been thought to have died in a hunting accident. After deep consideration, scientist believe he may have had many physical problems. He was said to have fallen and could not get up. They believe he had fallen victim to Malaria. So King Tut might have died from the bite of a ruthless bunch of mosquitoes.
First I would like to say he has been dead long enough, WHO CARES? I disagree with the article because I don't see how they have so much knowledge from a dead body or corpse. I highly disagree that he would have died from falling and not being able to get up from a mosquito disease. I would much rather believe that he did die from a hunting accident. I like to belive that is more "king like" than falling victim to a mosquito. If he was a king, shouldn't he have received better care?
